Post 5: Changes to my study programme
I think the curriculum of my career is
consistent with what is studied, because the subjects principally are like
maths, physics, and history. I think that are the most important subjects to
understand the architecture.
The workload and length studies are always
been the problem of the career and of the university because the workload,
principally of the workshop, are super stressful and leaves us as students
tired and anxious. I believe that we can learn the same without a lot of
workload. However, to me, the length studies are right to learn everything we
need as architects.
The faculty of architecture and urbanism of
the university of Chile have a lot of weaknesses in terms of structure, like
the casino is so small for all the students, the calefaction doesn’t work well
in all the classrooms and we don’t have spaces to rest or sleep. So, I would
change this things to have a better faculty to all the necessities of the
students.
Another thing that I would change is the
teaching methods in workshop because the method trial and error make anxiety
and stress and makes us feel that we don’t do anything well in the design process
of a project. So, I would make a method where the teacher teaches us first the
things that we need to do and how we could do that, instead make us do
something that will always be wrong in first place and learn whit that mistake.
Hi Susana, It's absolutely true that workshop causes anxiety and stress. That is why I think it is very good to devote ourselves to other things in order to distract ourselves in free times.
